Les Misérables in Song:
25th Anniversary Reunion Concert

Music by CLAUDE-MICHEL SCHÖNBERG, Lyrics by ALAIN BOUBLIL
Adapted for the concert format by ROBERT MARIEN

In 1991, Montreal mounted the first (and to date, only) bilingual production of "Les Misérables", playing five shows in French and three in English each week before touring Canada.

In 2016, nineteen of those original cast members reunited for a one-night-only benefit concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the groundbreaking production.

I found out about this project through my friend Frayne McCarthy, who played the original Marius in 1991. This being my all-time favorite show, and having seen the 1991 production for my 10th birthday, I immediately asked if they needed a lighting designer. He put me in touch with the producers, and the rest is history!

It was a whirlwind process - a handful of rehearsals and only a couple of hours in the space to set up and have a dress rehearsal - but the show was a resounding success and a whole lot of fun for everyone involved.
